The contest
The Barcelona Art Challenge is much more than a competition — it is a celebration of miniature painting and sculpture in all its forms, a space where art, technique and passion, from traditional approaches to new trends, come together for the first time in Barcelona. Born from the initiative of a Barcelona-based group of hobby enthusiasts who want the city to have a venue worthy of what it deserves. The BAC was created with one clear intention: to establish a world-class reference point within the miniature world.
The competition is structured around five main categories — Fantasy, Historical and Wargame — each with two participation levels: Standard and Master. A system designed to welcome both painters entering competition for the first time and experienced artists looking to measure themselves against the best.
Formats
Within the competition, we want to accommodate a wide range of demands, ways of rewarding and challenging our participants. Drawing on the world’s most prestigious competitions, we have separated the format based on the expectations of each category.
Open
There is no fixed number of medals to be awarded. Each piece is judged independently by the jury, recognising artistic merit without any participant having to compete against another to receive an award. Gold, silver and bronze are awarded based on the quality of the piece, not its position in a ranking.
Podium
Only one award will be given within an order determined by the judges. One gold, one silver and one bronze. The most intense and competitive format within the contest, with five finalists competing to take home the most coveted prize in the category.

Categories
WARGAME and SCULPTURE
Standard: OPEN format. Award recipients may receive bronze, silver or gold according to our judges’ criteria, with no pre-established number of awards.
Master: PODIUM format. One bronze, one silver and one gold. This format is drawn from the premier competition in the world of Wargame painting.
HISTORIC and FANTASY
Both Standard and Master will follow the OPEN format. Award recipients may receive bronze, silver or gold according to our judges’ criteria, with no pre-established number of awards.
BEST OF
The competition will feature several special awards in the “Best of…” category, which will be announced soon.

Young Talents
Barcelona Art Challenge will include a category dedicated to young participants, created to give space and visibility to the new generations within the world of miniatures and painting.
